For 20 years, Kim has been a voice for Boston’s children. As a community organizer and an education policy expert, Kim brings people together to get things done. Kim’s credibility stems from her consistency of activism and in getting results.

When Boston Public Schools failed to implement its Achievement Gap policy, Kim, along with leaders of the Black Educators’ Alliance of Massachusetts, successfully advocated for the creation of the Opportunity and Achievement Gaps Task Force.
Working with Latina mothers, Kim led her team in successfully advocating for the creation of a new dual language school. he is a noted speaker on education issues, and has spoken for the Harvard Graduate School of Education, on the Melissa Harris-Perry Show on MSNBC, as a panelist at the Roxbury International Film Festival in 2014 and the Education Writers Association’s National Seminar in 2016, and she has been asked to share her expertise before the Boston City Council as a panelist several times.

While attending Smith College, she facilitated the coordination of three Freedom Schools in Hartford, CT, under the guidance of the Children’s Defense Fund, after completing training at the Ella Baker Child Policy Training Institute at Shaw University. She is also an active member of the Boston NAACP and serves on the education committee. In November 2016, Kim was elected to provide leadership on the Boston NAACP Executive Committee.
